Things you may need to know
How much do you charge?
I can charge by the hour or on a project basis. Either way, my rates are very reasonable. Given an outline of your project and needs, I will provide (and stick to) a comprehensive quote which includes drafting, revisions, client liaison time and GST… never any hidden extras. You are most welcome to call or email me for a quote or to ascertain my hourly rate.
How long will it take?
That depends on the size and scope of the project and my availability at the time. Often I can turnaround small jobs in a very short timeframe. But I do manage several projects concurrently (in different stages of drafting and development) so am not always able to start on a new project immediately. When you call, I will propose a schedule that suits us both. Then I will stick to it and achieve any deadlines we agree to.
Who owns the copyright on the copy you write?
Once you have paid my account in full, the copyright reverts to you, meaning you have full ownership and can use the text in any way you see fit.
Do you work direct with individual business clients?
Yes, I do. Although a lot of my work comes from agencies, I have a long list of direct clients. These range from small start-up businesses and SMEs to government agencies and authorities with their own marketing departments. In some cases I work as a consultant providing advice on editorial and communications issues and in others I work with sole proprietors nutting out a new brochure or customer newsletter. Every project is just as important to me as the next, whether it's big or small.
Do you work with clients outside your area?
Yes, I do. I am located in Geelong, Victoria (Australia) and I work regularly with clients in Geelong, Melbourne and Ballarat, as well as interstate and even overseas. Some of my clients have never met me face-to-face. Communicating via phone and email is no hindrance to achieving great results. For many clients this can mean considerable savings on time and travel costs and therefore more value from their copywriting budget.
Can I ring you for copywriting advice?
Yes, you are very welcome to call me. I field calls all the time (from clients and non-clients) about copywriting issues big and small - from what to include in a corporate brochure to whether to use a colon or a semi-colon. I'm more than happy to help where I can, and if I don't know the answer I will do my best to track it down for you.
